The men’s and women’s hockey teams in the United States both won the gold in the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics, but the victory is being overshadowed by the viral video of President Trump. In a congratulatory phone call to the men’s locker room, Trump said he would have to invite the women’s team to the White House too, which caused the men to laugh. However, the men’s team is now being called disrespectful, misogynistic, and inconsiderate, with fans flooding the Instagram account of USA Hockey with messages praising the women’s team and berating the men. Although the men’s team was able to visit the White House, the women’s team was unable to attend the invite because of their schedules, which Captain Hilary Knight called distasteful and unfortunate.
